About Red Valise
Committed to bringing hip, emerging brands to life online, our style has been described as fun, collaborative, and creative. We combine this approach with 15+ years in marketing to help companies attract and retain engaged customers. Often working as an extension of our client's team, we operate with:
- Passion: We take on work we're passionate about and it shows (hint, if you've got a cool product, we want to work with you!)
- Savvy and scrappy marketing skills: We've done it all (email, paid search, social media, you name it!) and won't be learning on your dime. Plus, we roll up our sleeves and make
things happen in real time.
- Transparency: We don't believe in a ‘black box' approach and will ensure you're as involved as you want or need to be.
- Personal commitment and accessibility: We're not hiding behind assistants and other gatekeepers so you don't have to send out a search team to find us.
- Honesty: We foster open dialogue with clients and have been known to talk clients out of working with us if we can't support their needs.
- A focus on value: We don't create work unless it's going to add value to your business.
Who We Are
Since 1996, Val Fox, founder of Red Valise, has helped businesses attract customers and grow revenue online. Most recently, she brought her vision for a Boston-based retail collaborative to life with the Design Hive, a successful enterprise engaging thousands of shoppers and creating nearly $1M in annual revenue.
Prior to her starting her own business, Val was the Vice President of Marketing at Gather.com, a social networking and blogging site, where she led efforts resulting in 250% growth in site membership in less than a year. Prior to that, Val was the Director of Web Experience at Forrester Research where she led a site redesign resulting in 30% increase in revenue within 6 months. At Bose Corporation, Val was a pioneer in building direct-to-consumer online marketing programs, putting the Web site on the map at a $2B company. She was part of the Comcast team that brought broadband to millions of homes in New England and spearheaded all marketing efforts at Back Bay Restaurant Group, the company behind local Boston favorites like Joe's American Bar & Grill and Abe & Louie's.
Val holds an MBA from The Robert H. Smith School of Business at University of Maryland and a BSBA in International Marketing from The American University. She authored a report for Peppers and Rogers, "Email Marketing: Reaching Customers and Driving ROI," and has had articles published in 1 to 1 Magazine. She has served as a guest lecturer at the Suffolk University School of Management and a featured speaker at the New England Direct Marketing Association conference.
